The 12th was traditionally a working-class area with furniture workshops. The transformation of the Bastille area and the creation of Bercy Village from old wine warehouses brought new life in the 1990s.
Very residential and family-friendly. Bercy Village has a relaxed, almost suburban feel despite being in Paris. The Promenade Plantée — the elevated park built on old railway tracks that inspired New York's High Line — is a hidden gem worth the detour.
