The Vibe

A compact and bustling district —
a mosaic of old and new Paris.

The 2nd arrondissement combines Paris's former financial district around the Bourse (stock exchange) with the vibrant, village-like Montorgueil market street. This small arrondissement has seen a coffee revolution in recent years, with some of the city's best specialty roasters setting up shop here. The covered passages — Galerie Vivienne, Passage des Panoramas — are preserved time capsules of 19th-century Paris.

A neighborhood of contrasts: suited bankers, creative agency workers, food obsessives exploring Montorgueil, and serious coffee tourists. Less touristy than its neighbors, with a lived-in, working Parisian feel.
